We are also committed to uplifting communities through sport. We sponsored two corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives: the NBL1 Hawks Basketball and the South West Sydney Academy of Sport (SWSAS) volleyball program.
SVSR Mini Crane Hire gives away NBL1 fan experience
As sponsors of the Illawarra Hawks, we offer families from the Children’s Ward at the Wollongong Hospital the SVSR Mini Crane Hire Basketball Experience. Nursing Unit Manager, Julie Haines selected different families to attend each game. They all had the most incredible time.
Charli Gerrey had been undergoing treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (blood cancer) for the past two years at the Wollondilly Children’s Hospital. Mum Faye Gerrey (who also runs a fundraising initiative for kids with cancer, “Shine Like Charli”), and her family, were overwhelmed by the experience.
“The atmosphere was exhilarating and Charli is still reminiscing about it,” said Faye. “SVSR Mini Crane Hire & the organisers at Illawarra, went out of their way to make all of us feel like VIPs, especially when we met Kiwi.”
Another lucky family were the Morrisseys. Asher had broken her wrists and was in the hospital for a few days with her mum, Kylie.
Kylie Morrissey was so impressed by how incredible the staff in the children’s ward were, and that they received tickets for the entire family. “Asher is 12 and she has two brothers, Eli, who is 15, and Jude, who is 9. Finding a family outing that meets the expectations of such varied age groups can be challenging, but this experience blew our minds. Our family hasn’t been interested in basketball but now we’re hooked!
We were treated like VIPs by SVSR Mini Crane Hire & the Illawarra Hawks organisers. The following week we bought tickets to take friends. We even have our eyes on the next game at the WIN Stadium to go again.”
“Hearing this feedback from the recipients of the SVSR Mini Crane Hire Basketball Experience is really fantastic,” says Executive General Manager of Illawarra Basketball Association, Oscar Forman.
“This experience is more than just a game. It is an opportunity for the spectators to get up close to the athletes and witness how hard they work at their sport. We are advocates of connecting our players to their communities so we offer the families pictures with the players and encourage them to have conversations about the game, their training and opportunities to get involved.”
South West Sydney Academy of Sport volleyball program
As part of their ongoing CSR investment, SVSR Mini Crane Hire recently announced that it has officially partnered with the South West Sydney Academy of Sport (SWSAS) volleyball program ahead of their awards evening that culminated on 29 July 2022.
The SWSAS is committed to helping communities reach their full potential in sport. “South West Sydney Academy of Sport looks forward to a long and uplifting partnership with SVSR Mini Crane Hire. The support of local, and community focused, organisations such as SVSR Mini Crane Hire place us in a strong position to take our volleyball program to even greater heights,” explains Sport Operations Manager, Stephen Craig.
The following SWSAS athletes were selected for:
- Michael Bzdega – selected for the NSW U18 State Team
- Cody Meisenhofen – selected for the NSW U16 State Team
- Serephina Tat and Uinise Blake – both selected for the NSW U14 Girls State Team
- Sibelle Hassan – selected into the State NSW U15 Girls State Team
- William Chandhara – selected for the NSW U15 Shadow Side.
