SVSR and the future of Western Sydney

SVSR is a Liverpool-based family business and a proud member of Western Sydney Business Connection (WSBC), a non-profit member-based organisation that strategically connects local businesses to facilitate growth… and a thriving Western Sydney.

We recently attended WSBC’s 2019 State of the Region event and were delighted to meet with other business leaders and discuss future directions for the region.

This was the 17th Annual State of the Region Business Leader function, with Premier Gladys Berejiklian providing the keynote address for the third time – and outlining the NSW Government’s progression, priorities and plans for Western Sydney.

On 29 August, hundreds of business leaders including SVSR General Manager Robin Adams attended the 2019 State of The Region event at the William Inglis Hotel in Warwick Farm.

In addition to Premier Berejiklian, speakers included Western Sydney Business Connection General Manager Amanda Brisot and Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller.

The annual event provides business representatives with the opportunity to meet with key Western Sydney decision makers and to discuss current business trends and emerging innovation.

Premier Berejiklian discussed future potential for local businesses – with the development of the Western Sydney airport and complementary plans for Western Sydney to become a world-leading hub of innovation and commercial excellence.

Evolving infrastructure for Western Sydney

Evolving infrastructure for Western Sydney

Development plans for Western Sydney include the creation of Western Parkland City, a region radiating around the airport which the government believes will become one of Australia’s most connected cities.

Central to this expansion is the Badgerys Creek Aerotropolis, a commercial district which the government envisions as a world-class employment sector for jobs in aviation, aerospace, defence industries and advanced manufacturing. There are also plans for a new university and an agribusiness precinct that will provide domestic and export opportunities for NSW farmers.

And emerging with these new commercial and residential developments are promises of increased job opportunities, improved recreational areas, transport and connectivity… plus a coordinated housing and infrastructure delivery.

Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller also presented and outlined the potential for Liverpool to become Sydney’s third major business district.

“There are a billion dollars’ worth of major projects under assessment or underway, and this will change the face of Liverpool CBD to better reflect who we are – ambitious and vibrant,” she said. “Liverpool is embracing its future as Sydney’s third CBD and the premier edge city for Western Sydney International Airport.

More than $1 billion worth of development is planned for the city centre, as well as the $740 million redevelopment of Liverpool Hospital – the heart of the burgeoning Liverpool Innovation Precinct, a coming together of key health, education and research institutions in the area. Amid the changes, Council is also working towards a more walkable, cooler and greener city with the Georges River at its heart.”

Central to this expansive development of housing, parklands, business and recreation is a focused infrastructure. And SVSR is already participating in this development of infrastructure growth across Western Sydney, in the North-West Growth Corridor and Western Growth Corridor.

Ed Steane, an Urban Planning and Sustainable Development Professional from Liverpool Council, has endorsed SVSR as it commits to innovation.

“It was fantastic for Liverpool City Council to be able meet a great Liverpool company doing some really fantastic innovation,” he said.
